📆 Tuesday, August 1
► August began with cautious global markets due to new earnings reports and the continued uncertain health of the Chinese economy.
► US equity futures remained steady after the S&P 500 closed at a 16-month high and the Nasdaq 100 reported its longest streak of monthly gains since August 2020.
► It's also an eventful day of economic reports and events. The focus is on PMI data from the UK, Europe and the US, as well as the important JOLTS jobs report. This morning, the Chinese PMI data (worse than expected) and the RBA interest rate decision were the main events.
► In China, a plunge in home sales last month underlined the need for policymakers to address faltering demand and revealed a liquidity crunch in the property sector.
