The Nasdaq 100 consists of 101 components due to Google's parent company Alphabet having two shar classes: Class A (GOOGL) and Class C (GOOG). The index is heavily concentrated with technology companies but also includes companies from other sectors but no financials. The Nasdaq 100 is often used as a barometer of the health of the technology sector. The largest ten companies comprise more than 50% of the weight in the index and include the so-called “magnificent seven”: Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta, Alphabet and Tesla.
